The Coop Family who have been farming Okepuha Station on the Mahia Peninsula for 100 years have undertaken the project of putting together information about a very special place 'Te Mahia'.

Te Mahia is an ecological island with breathtaking scenery and plenty of history and adventures.

The Coops are in the process of setting up the Mahia Maritime Trust which will be environmental, educational and recreational detailing the events of 100 years relating to pioneer farming and fishing, the shipwrecks, the whaling and the Maori history. With this information on hand the public can enjoy the outdoor pursuits of the peninsula and create an affinity with the Mahia Peninsula.
